Rain, rain, go away

Before she and Ralph left yesterday evening, Marit pointed out the kitchen ceiling, lamenting to me the fact that they were experiencing an apparent leak in their roof.

I looked, and lo and behold, she lied not. Readily apparent in the ceiling overhead was a large, distended coffee-colored bulge–courtesy, no doubt, of the excessive wetness brought to us Atlantans in the form of Hurricane Dennis.

Ralph and Marit left to go see a movie, and I began the undertaking of trying to keep their three lovely children contained and entertained until the movie-goers returned.

Two hours later, I piled the three freshly-scrubbed wiggle worms out of the tub and off to find their pajamas, only to hear Joshua’s excited voice squeaking seconds later from the kitchen: “H-hey! The theiling fell!”

And I went out to the kitchen, and lo and behold, he lied not. Beneath a gaping, dripping 3-foot hole in the ceiling, what should be covering the kitchen floor but a sumptuous layer of fuzzy, puffy, snowy stuff and all the splattered remants of the exploded, coffee-colored bladder. Lovely.

At least it wasn’t your typical evening of babysitting. 😉
